Thursday, July 26 – The Day Trippers, a local Beatles Tribute band
Thursday, August 2 – The 1910 Fruitgum Company, a well-known 1960s pop band
Tuesday, August 7 – The Elefante Family Band, a beloved hometown favorite
This concert coincides with the National Night Out program, and will include additional activities presented by the New Providence Police, Fire, EMS, and Recreation Departments, starting at 6 PM.
The first three concerts will be held at 7 PM on Thursday evenings and the fourth concert will be held at 6 PM on Tuesday evening in Centennial Park, rain or shine. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the sounds of the evening. If rain prevents an outside performance, it will be held inside in the municipal gym.
The New Providence Independence Day Celebration returns to the borough on Tuesday, July 3, on South Street from Gales Drive to Springfield Avenue, and will include fun filled activities for all. DJ John Souren of Club Souren will provide entertainment from his perch on South Street. There will be “Chalk on South” (kids of all ages can get a free “bucket” of chalk to create art and messages on the street) and lots of fun for the whole family. The event begins at 7 PM and the fabulous fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 PM. Be sure to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the festivities. In case of rain, information will be posted on the Business Community website, www.newprovbiz.com and the borough website, www.newprov.org.
The New Providence Farmers Market will be open on Wednesdays from June 10 – Oct. 28, 2015. The market hours are noon – 6 PM. The market is located in the Presbyterian Church parking lot at the corner of Springfield Avenue and South Street in downtown New Providence. In addition to Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables, you will find prepared foods, dried nuts and fruits, olive oils, cider, baked goods, and more.
