The 2017 Holiday Festival was a HUGE success!  Downtown New Providence was packed wall to wall Friday night as thousands of residents and visitors jammed South Street, The Village Shopping Center, and Adams Shopping Center to enjoy activities, entertainment, international tents, merchant offerings, and the traditional arrival of Santa Claus from the roof of Provident Bank, accompanied by the NP Fire Department and the New Providence Marching Band!

The event kicked off at 5 PM with DJ John Souren providing entertainment from the Union County bandstand that included free give-aways and various performances from community groups, a Chinese dance Troupe, and Indian dance troupe, and more.   Revelers enjoyed fire dancers, strolling carolers, a stilt walker, ice carving demonstrations, a money grab booth, glow cotton candy, a giant chair for photos, snow machines, sand art, magician, and much more from local merchants!  Kids could grab their “suitcase” and get it stamped as they traveled to Italy, China, The USA/Africa, Israel, Mexico, and India and learned about traditions in those countries.  The evening wrapped up at 8 PM with a fantastic fireworks show sponsored by NP Fuel.

The event continued the next day, Small Business Saturday, with a visit from Santa, special offers, and gift basket raffles.  Kids could bring their stamped suitcases and enter a raffle to win an Xbox or a TV!  Over 2,000 raffle tickets were collected from the over 30 participating businesses. Five lucky winners were selected to take home the Shop New Providence Baskets that included a smorgasbord of valuable gift certificates, services and products.  Store owners went above and beyond to be involved to help in the positive movement to shop local for the holidays and to expand their community connection.  For details, a list of participating stores and the raffle winners, click here.

This wonderful New Providence Business Community event was presented by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and generously sponsored by Braunschweiger Jewelers, Ferdinand Jewelers, Jersey Fine Wines, Lantern Hill, Lassus Wherley, New Providence Downtown Improvement District, NJ Sharing Network, NP Fuel, Orangetheory, Overlook Medical Center, Souren Communications, and TAPinto New Providence.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!  We hope you will join us again next year!
